Equal opportunity Cell (EOC)

Equal opportunity Cell (EOC)

About the Cell:

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) has been constituted at the behest of the UGC guidelines with a view to ensuring a level platform with regard to opportunities for all the stakeholders of the institution. The EOC has been functional from 1916-17 with the then Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on its chair. That the cell is chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor personally is an indication of the pivotal role the EOC is envisaged to fulfil in the scheme of things. EOC functions as a friendly reminder to everyone that equity among the citizens of the country remains an important goal to be accomplished with the help and support from one and all. Rather than a rule to be imposed on a society that is unequal in opportunities, it stresses the need to assume equity as a given or as a taken for granted state which in turn would be the stepping stone for a life of dignity for all. The Equal Opportunity Cell with an eye towards making higher education inclusive with the vital element of social consciousness and responsibility is an integral part of a public university. It is our considered belief that a sustainable and healthy development of any social fabric can be achieved only by a society deeply informed by the spirit of equity through equal access to the available resources.
