PhD in Mathematics, Five-Year Integrated M. Sc. Programme in Mathematics The five-year integrated programme in mathematics has been designed to mould the students to take up career in research and/or teaching. The first four semesters would focus on basic calculus, algebra and analysis. Topics such as differential equations and group theory emphasize the applications to Mechanics, Chemical Kinetics and to the analysis of the structure of molecules. Higher semesters would have advanced core courses emphasizing both the theory and the applications. The electives have been designed in such a way that the student could discover his/her strengths and focus on topics of his/her choice. Electives like Harmonic Analysis and Differential Manifolds and Geometry provide grounding for theoretical work. Electives like Cryptography and Mathematical Modeling prepare the students to take up real life applications of advanced ideas of Mathematics. A project work in the final semesters would take the students to the frontiers of research.
