As an initiative to support the working mothers and other parents from the CUTN fraternity, and as per the UGC norms, our university has established a Day-care/Play School at the CUTN residential campus, that caters to the educational needs of preschool/kindergarten level children. This facility was inaugurated in 2018 and is functional to date with the support of the Playschool Committee, CUTN.

The Day-care/Play School at CUTN, with innovation through intelligence and integrity, offers Early Childhood and Care Education (ECCE) for children in their early years. It offers education to Pre-KG, Junior-KG and Senior-KG levels of learning and also houses a Day Care Unit and Activity Centre. “Play, Learn, and Nurture together” is the motto of the CUTN Day-care/Play school, which is managed by a dedicated team of teachers and caretakers. So far, the Day-care/Play School facility has catered to the needs of nearly 80 children of the CUTN fraternity.

The Day-care/Play School aims to provide high-quality care and education for children below statutory school age and works in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop through innovative practices and to achieve the following in this process:

• Cognitive Development
• Grossand fine motor skills
• Exposure to scientific concepts
• Self-directed art projects
• Talk Time and Conversations in three languages – Tamil, English and Hindi
• Play Time
• Music and Dance
• Puzzle time
• Clean up/ Snack time
• Age-appropriate curricula

The different activities that are carried out during the sessions include painting, play dough, cutting and gluing, helping with pencil control, threading, dressing up, singing, and playing outside, as well as opportunities for free play. In addition, important days are celebrated that inculcate national and cultural integration in children.
