Biographic Sketch:
A. Loganathan is a Professor in the Department of Statistics at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, India. He studied M.Sc., degree programme in Statistics during 1982-1984 at University of Madras, Chennai. He was awarded Ph.D., degree in Statistics during 1992 by Annamalai University, India for his thesis on Bayesian Estimation of Parameters in Finite Mixture Distributions. He started his teaching career during October 1992 at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India as a Lecturer in the Department of Statistics. He retired as Professor of Statistics during June 2022. Then, he joined Central University of Tamil Nadu during July 2024. He was the Deputy Co-ordinator for University Grants Commission’s Special Assistance Programme (DRS-I and DRS-II) sanctioned to Department of Statistics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

   
Research Highlights :

Areas of research interest of A. Loganathan include Bayesian Estimation, Reliability Theory, Acceptance Sampling, Cluster Analysis, Statistical Modelling using Machine Learning Techniques.  He has supervised the theses of 11 candidates for doctoral programme.  He has published 60 research papers which include 33 papers in peer-reviewed international journals.  He served in the Editorial Board for 5 Volumes published by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and two special volumes of an Indian journal. He was a Member in the Editorial Board for a peer reviewed volume on Bayesian Methodology published by the international publisher, CRC Press.

He has carried out a research project on Designing of Reliability Sampling Plans and seven research projects on Statistical Methodology and Applications to various socio-economic problems pertaining to southern part of Tamil Nadu.  These projects were funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.  He received Young Scientist Award of Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology and carried out a collaborative research work on Bayesian Cluster Analysis.
