Biographic Sketch:
Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, PhD in Library & Information Science, is working as Associate Professor at Department of Library & Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur since December 2019. Prior to joining as Associate Professor at CUTN, he worked as Assistant Professor at Department of Library & Information Science, Mizoram University from July 2010. He graduated (B.Sc.) from Purvanchal University, Jaunpur in 2003. Further, he studied BLIS (2004), M. Lib. & Inf. Sc. (2005), and Ph.D. (2009) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He won the Gold Medal of BHU, Varanasi in M. Lib. & Inf. Sc. for securing first rank. He qualified the national level UGC research fellowship (UGC-JRF) in 2005 in his first attempt. His areas of specialization and research interest are Webometrics, Digital Library, Bibliometrics, Information Technology, and Classification Theory. He has more than 97 papers/articles in his credit published in the form of research journals, conference proceedings, books, edited books and book chapters of national and international repute. Besides this, he has also attended more than 30 conferences, seminars, workshops etc. of regional, national and international level. He is nominated as editorial board member/reviewer of many reputed LIS journals of national and international repute. He has supervised 25 students and scholars for their dissertation work at MLIS, M. Phil. and Ph.D. levels and presently 3 scholars are pursuing their research work under him at Ph.D. level. He has life membership of professional associations like ILA, IASLIC and IATLIS. Besides these, he is the member/coordinator of various administrative bodies at the department and university level. Presently he is heading the Department.

   
Research Highlights :

Engaged exclusively in metric studies and made substantial contributions to Scientometric research focused on LIS schools and faculties. Conducted webometric studies on Libraries and Information Centres, developed criteria for evaluating web content on library websites, identified core categories of scholarly communication in online discussion forums, and introduced the Degree of Effectiveness and Levels of Effectiveness formula. Additionally, conducted research to assess information-seeking behavior among students and completed a PhD in webometrics, producing a noteworthy work in this field, including an authored book.
