Dr S.Srivignesh, Assistant Professor of Horticulture at the School of Life Sciences, Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Thiruvarur, since October 2019. He had his PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel in 2016, followed by a National Post-doctoral fellow (N-PDF) funded by DST_SERB at Department of Nano Science and Technology, TNAU, Coimbatore. He received his BSc and MSc in Horticulture from Tamil Nadu agricultural University- Coimbatore, Hebrew University of Jerusalem- Israel in 2006 and 2010, respectively. He completed his school education in Harur, his native place. He was granted Pear’s fellowship, England and HUJI administered research fellowship, Israel for MSc degree. Further, he secured Indian council for Agricultural research- International fellowship (ICAR_IF) from ICAR, New Delhi for his doctoral studies. He has been serving as a life member in the prestigious societies such as ISVS -Varanasi, HIS- New Delhi, ISPP- New Delhi, ASPB- USA, ISHS- Belgium

Research Highlights :

Dr.Srivignesh's research has significantly contributed to a better understanding of the field, such as mapping the abscission pathway in tomatoes, developing a customized microarray for abscission research, identifying the alkalization pattern of cells associated with abscission, and developing new transgenic lines with less abscission in tomato. Postdoctoral research centered on the development of a multi-layered electrospun nanofiber encapsulated with 1-MCP and Hexanal to extend the shelf life of bananas. We are currently concentrating on producing a Nano matrix for solanaceous vegetable grafting and creating transgenic lines by CRISPR Cas 9 for genotypes in tomatoes with lower abscission rates. In addition, work is being done on various nanomaterials to improve the productivity of vegetables.

He has published 28 research articles in international journals, 38 national and international Abstracts in various conferences, 5 books, 13 book chapter and 26 popular articles. He has obtained three research projects from DST-SERB, DST-CRG, UGC.
