Biographic Sketch:
My primary area of research is on hemostasis and thrombosis. I gained my doctoral degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Further to that, I had undergone postdoctoral training in USA for five years from 2008 to 2013. After the successful completion of postdoctoral training, I accepted the current position of Assistant Professor at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur where I pursue my research in hematological disorders. My research is supported by various national and international funding agencies like DBT, DST, UGC, ISTH, etc. I have over 70 research articles in various national and international peer reviewed journals. My research studies were recognized by various national and International societies. Further to my joining at CUTN, to advance my research in the field of hematology, I have made multiple academic visits to abroad through visiting professorships to institute such as University Medical Center Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, The Rockefeller University, New York and Loyola University of Medical Center, Chicago. I am also a recipient of the prestigious JC Patel award for active research work in hematology in India. Currently I hold the membership in various national and international academic bodies and I am a part of editorial teams and reviewer for several reputed international journals.

Research Highlights :

My primary research interest is on Hemostasis and Thrombosis especially in the areas of platelets and coagulation defects.  Currently, our research lab is focused on understanding the signaling mechanisms in platelets at various conditions and diseased states.  Since matured platelets undergo signal-dependent translational regulation, we study the existence of alternative cell death pathway in platelets that could potentially regulate the platelet function and survival.  We have also developed a genetic panel specific for programmed cell death, programmed cell necrosis, and cellular (Platelets) activation.  Apart from the above, our lab is intensely focused on the other relevant areas including hematological malignancies in Down-Syndrome, Thrombophilia, Hemophilia, Viral-associated thrombosis and other thrombotic defects.
