Welcome to the department of Geology at Central University of Tamil Nadu. Department opens you to dynamic nature of the Earth and its interaction between different interwoven systems like atmosphere, hydrosphere and geosphere. We offer a cutting-edge curriculum to train students to excel in geoscience workforce, and to tackle major concerns particularly as natural resources became scarcer. We also strive to integrate classical theoretical knowledge with field work and quantitative analysis to understand the Earth’s past and obtain a glimpse of its future.

Programmes Offered
M.Sc. Geology

The department of Geology presently offers only MSc Geology programme. The course is a two-year programme consists of 72+ credit hours of theory, practical, field work and dissertation components. The department intakes 20 students (including EWS) in each academic year.

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in Science with Geology or Applied Geology as main subject or allied or related disciplines of Earth Sciences from a recognized Indian or foreign university (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list). Candidates should have secured a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate for General Category, 50% marks for EWS/OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and, 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
