Biographic Sketch:
Dr. P. Balamurugan is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the Central University of Tamil Nadu. He has more-than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He has more-than 40 research publications. He is consistently engaged in research and publications. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at University Allahabad during 2008-2009. He was Sir Ratan Tata Trust Visiting Fellow at Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore in 2009. He received Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarship for Doctoral Studies in India for the years 2004 & 05. He received Rs. 49,000 as partial financial assistance for his Ph.D from Sunya Foundation, Ahmedabad in 2002. He was Finalist, Canada International Development Research Centre (IDRC) – India Social Science Research Award (ISSRA) 2009. He did his under graduate and post graduate in economics at Arul Anandar College and American College respectively. He received his M. Phil and Ph. D in economics from Bharathidasan University. He did PG Diploma in Software Based Statistical Analysis in Annamalai University in 2006. Before joining at CUTN, he was a Research Associate at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM), New Delhi from June 2009 to October 2013. He has conducted research in various areas related to the development of the Indian economy. He has authored more than 40 publications including journal articles and books of national and international repute publishers. He has successfully guided Ph. D students and have guided more than 20 PG students. For his academic credit, he has participated and presented papers in more than 50 national and international seminars. He has delivered lectures in many reputed academic institutions as a resource person. He has organized many seminars and conference. He has served as member in several administrative and academic committees. He has served as examiner to adjudicate thesis and he is the question paper setter to many reputed universities across the country. He has specific competencies in effective teaching and research.
