Biographic Sketch:
Dr. P. Kumar, work as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Tamil, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur since June 2013. He completed his PhD in 2008, MPhil in 2001 and MA (Tamil) in 2000 from the University of Madras. he joined the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore as a Lecturer in Tamil in 2008. After 2008, he Joined as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Tamil Language, University of Madras till April 2013. He has coordinated various seminars, workshop. He has written various Research papers. He has Worked on Microsoft's Tamil language localization project. His research paper was selected as the best paper in the international seminar held at the University of Madras. He has published and edited three books. He is working with the students to compile Tamil regional dialect words. Through this, he has published the vocabulary of three regional dictionary namely Thaakkool, Cheruvaadu and Kodappu through the Department of Tamil, CUTN. He is doing his research with Tamil Language, Classical Literature, Grammar, Lexicography and Linguistics as Research fields. He currently has four doctoral research students doing research with him. two research students have received Ph.D. under his guidance.
Research Highlights :
Dr. P. Kumar has completed his PhD from University of Madras 2008 on area Lexicon for Machine Translation. His fields of Specialization are Linguistics, Lexicography, Tamil Grammar and Classical Literature. He has very good experiences in Linguistics and Tamil Grammar capacity past 15 years. Kumar's main Research areas are the study of grammatical and linguistic aspects of classical Tamil Literature. He is Editorial board Member of Journal of Modern Thamizh Research. He has Published more than 25 research papers in national and international level. He has delivered many invited Lecture for young Tamil Scholars in reputed Universities and colleges. He guided for 25 PG Students dissertations and 2 PhD Research Scholars. He is presently working as Assistant Professor in Tamil, Central University of Tamil Nadu since 2013.
