Biographic Sketch:
Dr. Srinvasan Sampath completed his M.Sc (Chemistry) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in 2005. He cleared the CSIR-UGC-JRF-NET examination in Dec-2004. Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. from National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) Trivandrum in 2010. Then he joined Sir Fraser Stoddart's (Nobel Laureate in 2016) group at Northwestern University, USA, for his PDF (2010-2012). Then He joined Prof. Ali Coskun's group at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) South Korea (2013-2014). Dr. Sampath received the DST-INSPIRE Faculty award in 2014 and joined CSIR-CLRI, Chennai (2014-2016). In 2016 he joined the department of materials science at the Central University of Tamil Nadu. His fields of Specialization are design and synthesis of highly conjugated molecules with strong fluorescence in solution state as well as in solid state for energy and water applications. He has vast experience handling carbon nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, graphene oxide, RGO, and Fullerenes. He has expertise in designing and synthesizing molecules with Aryl-Aryl (C-C) coupling reactions such as Grignard, Suzuki, Wittig, Wittig-Horner, etc.

Research Highlights :

Dr. Srinivasan Sampath invented highly water-repellent surfaces akin to that of lotus leaf and has US patent for that work. He has experience working with organo-gels, hydro-gels, ionic-gels, hybrid-gels, xerogels, nanocomposites, etc. These materials are used in optoelectronic applications such as smart windows, smart energy storage system, opto-electronic devices, etc. These dual emissive materials can be used for bio-imaging and smart batteries. He has 17 years of research and teaching experience. He received a young scientist award from the Academy of Sciences, Chennai, for his contribution to chemical sciences. He has 30 high-impact international publications with more than 2300 citations and an H-index of 19 and 4 granted US patents in his credit. He guided more than 23 M.Tech, B.Tech, and M.Sc students' project work and currently supervising 2 Ph.D. scholars and M.Tech student.
