Research Highlights : Specialized in the application of omics technologies including metagenomics and bioinformatics for crop conservation & improvement, especially using ionomics for crop finger printing- cheaper technology than the DNA finger printing. At CAU he established molecular diagnostic laboratory, developed protocol for diagnosis and supplied certified planting material against systemic diseases. Worked extensively on the indigenous and orphan crops. Standardized somatic embryo production in seedless grape, in vitro shoot tip grafting for Khasi mandarin, Rough lemon micro propagation, low cost hydroponics and vertical cultivation of fruits and vegetables. Presently focusing on the frontier technologies of horticulture to foster the health and local & export oriented livelihood options.
