Biographic Sketch:
Dr. S. Sethu is an accomplished academician and sports educationist, currently serving as Associate Professor at the Central University of Tamil Nadu and Visiting Professor at the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), Spain. With over 23 years of teaching and research experience, including more than 17 years at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU), Dr. Sethu has demonstrated leadership across academic, administrative, and research domains. He is proficient in various ICT tools, including SPSS, R, JAMOVI, and Python. He has contributed significantly to university administration at MSU, serving in various capacities such as Director of MMTTC, Data Processing, and Estate Management, as well as Nodal Officer for national-level initiatives like NIRF, AISHE, PFMS, and Viksit Bharat @2047. He played a pivotal role in designing and developing the school-level curriculum for the Government of Tamil Nadu (SCERT) for Classes I to XII and has contributed to syllabus framing and academic restructuring at several universities for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. A passionate researcher, his expertise is reflected in the successful completion of major research projects funded by PMMMNMTT (MHRD), ICSSR, and TNSCST, with total funding exceeding ₹1.4 crore. An innovator and tech-savvy educator, he has developed over 250 educational videos on his YouTube channel "SPOLIB" and has actively participated in live moderation during the World Athletics Championships and the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024. Dr. Sethu’s multifaceted contributions to physical education, sports science, and institutional development make him a highly respected figure in the academic and sports community.

   
Research Highlights :

Dr. S. Sethu’s research reflects a strong commitment to advancing the science and pedagogy of physical education through both empirical training-based studies and educational innovation. His Ph.D. research, titled “Development of Multimedia Courseware in Teaching Exercise Physiology for Physical Education Students”, underscores his pioneering interest in digital learning tools, multimedia-based instruction, and technology-enhanced teaching methodologies. This work highlights his foresight in integrating ICT into physical education well ahead of its widespread adoption. He has guided 17 Ph.D. scholars and established a strong research portfolio focused on motor skill development, especially among children. His work includes multiple studies on gross motor proficiency, school-based physical activity interventions, and the impact of psychomotor and neuromotor training on young learners. A prolific academic, Dr. Sethu has published over 80 articles in refereed journals, including 33 in UGC CARE-listed journals and 3 in Scopus-indexed journals. He has authored two books, edited three, contributed to international publications including those from Taylor & Francis, and presented research papers at more than 80 national and international conferences.
