Biographic Sketch:
Dr. S. Seethalakshmi is a Carnatic vocalist, academician, and researcher serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Padma Bhushan Dr. B. Rajam Iyer and received her initial training under Smt. Padmavathy Anantha Gopalan, followed by advanced Gurukulavasa training under Dr. B. Rajam Iyer, and participated in his concerts in India and abroad as a vocal accompanist. She holds a Sangita Ratna in Vocal Music from The Music Academy, Chennai (2002), and B.Com., M.C.A., M.Music, M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees, along with qualifying NET in Music (2013) and earning her Ph.D. from the University of Madras (2019). She has ten years of experience as a Music Teacher at Sivan Arts Academy, Chennai, where she handled theory and practical training, academic evaluation, and student mentoring. She also has multidisciplinary experience in private banking and corporate organizations, with exposure to banking operations, software services, Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS), payroll, and business processes, along with contributions to training and capacity-building through knowledge transfer sessions and facilitation of foundational digital and technical skills. Additionally, she has worked in technical writing, business analysis, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) outreach activities supporting community-focused development programmes. She has presented papers and delivered invited lectures at national and international forums on music, spirituality, education, and well-being. She has published research articles in peer-reviewed and UGC-CARE listed journals including Sangeet Galaxy, Swar Sindhu, Anhad Lok, and Smrti, and authored the book Amruta Gaana Manjari (2022). She serves on editorial boards, guides Ph.D. scholars, and has mentored UG projects and internship candidates. She practices meditation, imparts holistic education, and disseminates spiritual knowledge among students. She served as NSS Programme Officer at the Central University of Tamil Nadu from 2021 to 2024 and actively contributes to academic, cultural, research, and extension activities.
