Biographic Sketch:
V Madhurima obtained her Masters and PhD in Physics from IIT-Madras. After a stint of teaching, she did her post-doctoral work from University of Hyderabad under UPE scheme, and as CSIR-RA. She has been awarded the JNSTS award of Government of Tamil Nadu, a Merit scholarship at PG and qualified in GATE and UGC-CSIR-NET. Soon after her post-doctoral work, she moved to Mizoram University as a Reader and then Associate Professor where she was among the founding faculty of the department. In addition to teaching PG Physics and B.Tech, she guided PhD students and executed research projects. She joined Central University of Tamil Nadu in 2012, where she is currently a Professor of Physics. She has continued to guide PhD and masters students and work on research projects, and now has over 50 publications. She also takes summer interns. She takes interest in cultural history and teaches a unique course on Physics of Arts. Madhurima has a wide administrative experience having served as the Head of the Department, Chairperson of CASH-GSCU, director of IQAC, member of the Academic and Executive councils and now, a member of the University court. In addition to teaching, research and administration, Madhurima has two keen interests gender equity and online teaching. She has worked at the grass-root level for both issues, and has presented academic papers and talks on the same. She has received commendation for her work in gender and Physics and is a member of many national committees related to the same.

Research Highlights :

V Madhurima’s research interest has been in the broad area of Soft Condensed Matter Physics, especially in the areas of weak intermolecular bonding in soft matter and wetting. Since her PhD days, she has employed a multi-Physics approach to studying the problems on hand, combining experimental and computational techniques to study, in particular, hydrogen-bonds. Broadband dielectric spectroscopy, with special reference to microwave frequencies, FT-IR, NMR, zeta-potentials and confocal imaging of droplet drying patterns are studied alongside ab initio Hartre-Fock/Density Functional Methods, classical Molecular Dynamics as well as ML/AI. Her studies have relevance to superhydrophobic surfaces, molecular astrophysics and soil studies.
