Dr.Yogesh Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at the School of Earth Sciences, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, since July 2025. He earned his Ph.D. in Geology from Sambalpur University, specializing in Precambrian palaeobiology and stable isotope stratigraphy. His research focuses on the emergence of macro- and microscopic life during the Proterozoic Era, with a focus on identifying Precambrian-Cambrian boundary fossils both microfossils and megafossilsacross various regions of India. Dr.Yogesh Kumar has conducted extensive studies in key Proterozoic basins, including the Marwar, Vindhyan, Cuddapah, and Krol-Tal. His interdisciplinary approach integrates paleobiology with chemostratigraphy to decipher early complex biospheres and their associated environments. He completed his M.Sc. (2015) and B.Sc. (2013) from the University of Lucknow. Dr. Kumar is proficient in handling the advanced analytical instruments such as Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, Raman Spectroscope, XRD, IRMS, and ICP-MS. His contributions to Precambrian palaeobiology and isotope stratigraphy have been recognized through multiple publications and presentations, including the ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ at the 40th Indian Association of Sedimentologists Convention. He is a Life Member of the Palaeontological Society of India and continues to advance understanding of early life and Earth’s geological evolution.
