Biographic Sketch:
It is one of the very few studies initiated and conducted on medical and health tourism in Andhra Pradesh in the year 2007. The aim of the study is to examine the complex phenomenon of medical and health tourism by analyzing the services offered by corporate hospitals and renowned complementary and alternative health centres in Andhra Pradesh. The important features of this research study are to understand the facilities required by the international medical tourism coming to India and the readiness to cater to the needs of medical tourists. The competitive advantages of India, particularly Andhra Pradesh, in comparison to its competitors like Singapore, Bangkok, Thailand and Malaysia are price and facilities. Study is concluded by thronging light on various issues of medical and health tourism by providing hits to the policy makers for development of medical and health tourism.

   
Research Highlights :

Dr.Ankathi Raghu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Central University of Tamil Nadu. He joined the institution in 2019. He started his carrier as a District Tourism Officer and due to his interest in the field of travel and tourism, he has travelled the length and breadth of the country. Later with his interest in academics, he started his journey as an Assistant professor in the tourism and travel sector. So far he has guided research scholars from various universities across the country and has published more than 35 articles in prestigious journals of the sector.   I am working in the teaching field for last 9 plus years at National Institute of tourism and Hospitality Management, Hyderabad and Indira Gandhi National Tribal university, Amarkantak, with nearly 6 years of administrative and consultancy experience, all this is going to be used for the benefits of the students. Mainly my blend of knowledge in Hospitality and Tourism is the asset for the university and department. My past experience in both the fields will be very convenient for me and also for the department.
