Biographic Sketch:
Dr. Durai is an accomplished academic and Physical Education specialist with more than twenty years of experience in higher education. He commenced his academic career with a Bachelor’s degree from Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Kerala University (1996–1999), followed by a Master’s degree from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and earned his Doctoral degree at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu between 2009 and 2012. He served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University for 18 years, significantly contributing to curriculum development, sports promotion, and academic administration. He also held leadership roles including Head In‑Charge of the department and Director of Sports, overseeing student progression, university sports governance, and organizing major intercollegiate and inter-university competitions. Dr. Durai’s robust academic background and dedication to physical education have informed his commitment to teaching, research, and student development. He remains actively engaged in advancing the field of physical education and sports sciences through innovative pedagogy, institutional leadership, and a focus on empowering students.

As a prolific scholar, Dr. Durai has published extensively in UGC CARE-listed and Scopus-indexed journals, evidencing sustained productivity and high-quality research output. His scholarly achievements include authoring a book, contributing seven book chapters, and serving in editorial capacities for academic publications.

Dr. Durai’s research interests are deeply rooted in behaviour modification through sports participation and physical activity, with a strong emphasis on promoting societal health and wellbeing. His expertise extends to psychomotor skill enhancement, and the development of managerial competencies among physical education professionals, reflecting his commitment to both research and holistic professional development. He has guided ten Ph.D. scholars to completion, thereby contributing significantly to capacity building and academic excellence within the field of physical education.
