Biographic Sketch:
Dr. Udaya Kiran K T is a Ph. D. in Music from University of Mysore, with specialisation in Carnatic Classical Vocal, Violin and Keyboard. He is an assistant professor in Department of Music, Central University of Tamil Nadu-Thiruvarur. He is an “A Grade” artist in Carnatic classical vocal from All India Radio and Doordarshan. His area of interest includes Manodharma (Improvisation), Music and Technology, Mathematics in Music, Western Classical Music, Contemporary Music and other related genres. Started at very young age Udaya Kiran has received formal training in Carnatic Classical music. He has performed numerous concerts, collaborated with musicians, composed music for All India Radio. He has also composed instrumental ensembles and performed live in many prestigious venues like Darbar Hall-Mysore palace, Rajbhavan-Bangalore and the like. Won many awards including “Best Main Musician” Gayanasamaja Bangalore, “Best Violinist” Gayanasamaja-Bangalore, “Best Vocalist” Madras Music Academy, Loui Braille Award from VikalaVikasaParishat-Mysore and so on. Apart from being a full fledged performer in Carnatic Classical Vocal, he has also published many research articles, presented in many National and International music conferences.He has received many scholarships and recognitions from prestigious music organisations. Scholarship for Carnatic Classical Vocal and Instruments-Violin from Ministry of Tourism, Department of Culture. Holds Gradation in Carnatic Classical Vocal, Carnatic Classical Violin, Carnatic Classical Keyboard, Devotional music and Composership from All India Radio and Doordarshan. A Gold Medalist and 1st Rank holder in M. Music, Received UGC Junior Research Fellowship to pursue Ph. D. in Music. He is also adept in assistive technology and conducted many training sessions, workshops, published research article pertaining to assistive technology in University of Mysore and other institutes.

   
Research Highlights :

Area of interests include Recent trends in carnatic classical music, improvisation in carnatic classical music, Western classical and contemporary music. Related fields of interest include music technology, mathematics in music, sound enjineering. Published research articles, presented papers related to the topics mentioned above at conferences and reputed journals.
