Biographic Sketch:
Coordination, Bioinorganic and Inorganic Medicinal Chemistry

   
Research Highlights :

Our research mainly focuses on Bioinorganic and Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry– especially in investigating the role of metal complexes  in medicine. The group aims to understand the role of metals in nature. It is interested in the application-oriented development of metal-containing 
compounds such as new metallonucleases, metalloproteases, fluorescent  nucleic acid probes, anticancer agents, and nanomedicine. We have designed and synthesized certain copper(II) and ruthenium(II) mixed-ligand metal complexes and tested their cytotoxicity with the various origin of cancer cell lines, and discovered a few copper complexes have shown promising anticancer activity with nanomolar IC50 values with cancer cells. Besides synthetic inorganic chemistry, structural characterization of new metal complexes, and their cytotoxicity, we strongly aim to investigate the mechanisms of action of their anticancer activity.
